Terms of Service
Plain language terms for using Grafted Bible.
Last updated: May 2026
Using Grafted Bible
Grafted Bible is a Bible reader anyone can use freely, operated by Andrew Rice (doing business as Grafted Software), based in Minnesota, USA. The free tier requires no account; Premium adds optional sync and convenience features. By using the app, you agree to these terms - an agreement between you and us. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
Who can use Grafted
You need to be at least 13 years old to use Grafted Bible. To subscribe to Premium, you also need to be old enough to enter a binding agreement where you live - usually the age of majority. If you're younger, a parent or guardian can agree to these terms for you and supervise your use.
Your content stays yours
Notes, highlights, bookmarks, and memorizations you create are your content. We don't claim ownership. The app stores them locally; with Premium, they sync between your devices end-to-end encrypted.
Don't resell or rebrand the app
We offer Grafted Bible's free tier with intentionally generous access - no account required, every translation, every feature you'd reasonably need to read scripture. That open access is a gift to readers, not a free building block for someone else's commercial product. You may not host, mirror, repackage, white-label, or otherwise redistribute Grafted Bible (or substantial parts of it) as part of a paid service or product. Personal forks for individual study are welcome; commercial forks are not.
Don't abuse the service
Don't try to break into other users' accounts, scrape our backend at scale, send abusive content through our email or sync infrastructure, or reverse-engineer the app for malicious purposes.
Premium subscriptions
Premium is a recurring subscription billed monthly or annually through Polar - our Merchant of Record for web and desktop purchases - or through Apple (iOS / iPadOS / Mac App Store, when available) or Google (Android, when available) for purchases made in those apps. Pricing is shown before checkout. Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel beforehand. You can cancel anytime: for web and desktop purchases, from Settings → Account (we link you to the Polar billing portal there); for App Store, Mac App Store, or Google Play purchases, from your store account's subscription settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal - you keep Premium until the end of the period you've already paid for. See our Refund Policy for refund details.
Price changes
We may change Premium pricing from time to time - to reflect costs, currency shifts, or new features. If a price increase affects your subscription, we'll notify you at least 30 days before it takes effect, showing your current price, the new price, and the date it starts. If you don't agree to the new price, you can cancel before it takes effect and you won't be charged the higher amount - see "Premium subscriptions" above for how to cancel.
Account termination
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete account. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms (resale, abuse, persistent chargebacks-without-contact). Account deletion has a 30-day grace window for recovery; after that, your account data is permanently purged.
No warranty
The app is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We try hard to ship a stable, useful Bible reader, but we can't promise it'll always work without bugs or downtime. If you depend on the app for important work, keep your own backups - Settings → Data export gives you a full local backup at any time.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to the app is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. If you're a free-tier user who hasn't paid us anything, our liability is limited to USD $0. We're not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Disputes that aren't resolved by friendly conversation will be heard in courts located in Hennepin County, Minnesota.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms occasionally - for clarity, for new features, or to reflect legal requirements. Material changes will be highlighted here with a new "Last updated" date. If you don't agree with a change, you can delete your account; otherwise continued use means you accept the updated terms.
